Liberals Attack Fox News

The liberal movement has targeted Fox News because of their conservative roots. Advertisers are being identified and urged/bullied to stop advertising on Fox. Home Depot for example is being pressured by The Sierra Club to stop advertising on a network that questions the validity of global warming. Liberal volunteers are documenting programming/editorial info in an attempt to scare advertisers from the Fox News brand. So then it is perfectly alright to be CNN, CBS News, MSNBC, or many other liberally biased news channels who present the world through their liberal filters, but it is not acceptable to present the world through a conservatively based filter. Sounds like a double standard to me and also sounds like liberals just don't like hearing the conservative message over the airwaves (do I dare mention the fairness doctrine?). As conservatives, we need to be able to mobilize in direct opposition to attempts like these to stifle our voices. I hope that sites like this and other means can bring together enough conservative firepower (god I bet the liberals hate all of these military terms :)) to combat the liberal menace (not to be confused with the Star Wars movie of similar title, although Nancy Pelosi does look like a Sith). I look forward to hearing more thoughts on the topic.

Almost all TV news is terrible but Fox produces the most honest propaganda. Fox doesn't do news, they do propaganda. What I find most disturbing are the people who taken in by this nonsense. PT Barnum said it best "a sucker is born even minute" and Fox news is proof of that.

If you want more accurate news there are better sources like the New York Times, BBC, the Washington Post, PBS, and NPR. Even these sources have failed us as of late but they are worlds better than FOX, CNN, and MSNBC.

Lasermike..welcome to the blog but cmon you can't really tell me you actually believe what you posted. The BBC for example in their own internal study said that they were biased.
http://journalism.about.com/b/a/000135.htm
This just goes to show that you only notice the bias when it disagrees with your internal beliefs. Once again my point has been proved. This time by a liberal. I appreciate the discussion and will try to make it a bit more cordial even though we may not agree on much of anything.

If there is bias at the BBC it is slight. Your source is weak and incomplete.

FOX on the other hand is produces blatant propaganda with equal power and force like that seen in communist Russia of fascist Germany. Don't let the BBC's minor faults blind you from the massive misinformation system that FOX is. You don't have to read a report to see that.

Lasermike..I posted a link that had some basic info on the BBC internal study. I didn't intend to provide you with every detail on the subject. THE BBC SAID THEY ARE BIASED. I encourage you to look up the facts. They said it, I didn't (although I already knew it). So if I get this right, you are saying the BBC was wrong when they admitted internally to being biased? cmon...let's get real here. It's one thing to argue a third party study, but this is the BBC auditing themselves for chrissake..

As for the Fox News comments. I find them to be no more biased than any of the liberal channels or rags (Same list, CNN, NY Times, BBC etc. etc.). You may find it offensive as a liberal, but just think how conservatives felt for many years before Fox came along. You may not like what they say, but it IS what many (I can't speak for all) conservatives ACTUALLY believe. Just because you don't like the reporting doesn't make it propaganda.

You can debate that nytimes are left leaning. I think the nytime is right leaning. Heck, the nytimes supported the lead up to Iraq war and didn't print the truth.

FOX is not right leading. FOX is straight propaganda. Criticizing other news sources does not remove the fact that FOX is a propaganda machine.

PS. Say goodbye to the Wall Street Journal. Rupert is going to destroy it. I wonder where you are going to get your financial news now?

At least I offered some proof if what I am saying. Saying that Fox News is propaganda is propaganda unto itself. Besides offending your personal beliefs, what is it about Fox News (specifically now, no BS opinions) that is propaganda?

Misperceptions, the Media and the Iraq War - study by PIPA

"Those who primarily watch Fox News are significantly more likely to have misperceptions, while those who primarily listen to NPR or watch PBS are significantly less likely."

The study showed that Fox news viewers believed misperceptions 80% of the time.

Journalism is biased, no kidding. Any human would interject their own bias into their work, it is only human nature. It is in pretending that we are not biased, and that journalism is unbiased, that we do ourselves a disservice.

However, Fox News is only balanced after watching CNN. CNN is the liberal propaganda machine, and Fox is the conservative version. Neither is really worth watching if you want honest content.

Conservatism is feeding on itself, proving to us middle of the road independent Americans that it isn't to be trusted.

Actually, CNN sucks. But CNN doesn't suck because they are left or right leaning. They suck because they deliver a useless or bad information. CNN does give the viewer the information they need to make informed decisions.

I think the left/right leaning argument is a bunch of crap. Bias is ok provided its fair. A good example would be the 20 or so English newspapers. Each have a point of view but their facts are fairly right on. What is important to a CEO is different than a factory worker.

FOX, on the other hand, is not merely biased. FOX deliver misinformation consistently. FOX masquerades opinion, spin, and lies as news.

Lasermike..I applaud your use of the study. I would however like to see a bit more study on the topic. I think the study topic itself is touchy and perhaps something a bit less polarized would serve to truly test the theory. I do still find Fox to be a reliable source of news (yes it has a conservative tint, but that's the whole point) and if you use the definition of propagana "information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause" then essentially ALL news sources produce propaganda because they are all biased one way or another. You have to put the common sense filter on after you hear something. It's just a question of which filter you use and/or if you are smart enough to use one..

I see you slipped right back into attck mode. What you fail to see is that many (again I can't speak for all) conservatives feel the same way about the liberal news media that you do about Fox. If it isn't your opinion you are more sensitive to the info IMHO.

CNN does NOT give the viewer the information they need to make informed decisions.
