Time to Consider Iran

U.S. General: Iranian Missile Used in Attack on U.S. Base in Iraq
Thursday, September 13, 2007

BAGHDAD — A fatal attack launched two days ago against the sprawling headquarters base of the American military in Iraq was carried out with a 240 mm rocket — a type of weapon provided to Shiite extremists by Iran, a U.S. general said Thursday.

One person was killed and 11 were wounded during the "indirect fire" attack Tuesday against Camp Victory, which includes the headquarters of Multinational Forces-Iraq.

The attack was overshadowed by congressional appearances by Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker in Washington.

But such an attack with a sophisticated weapon against a nearly impregnable compound — far less vulnerable than the Green Zone in the heart of the capital — sends a strong message to the Americans that nowhere in Iraq are they safe, even in the nerve center of the U.S. mission.

Iran is a major problem in the world and we need to consider stopping them now. They are a terror sponsoring state and with any type of nuclear weapon in the hands of the psycho Iranian leadership we will have mass destruction and potentially a war started somewhere. Israel might as well be renamed "The Nevada nuclear testing site" if Iran gets a nuke. In my opinion Israel nor the United States will allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon without preemptive military strikes. Attacking Iran now seems to merely make more sense because we already have the manpower (or at least a portion of it) in place and we will ultimately save American lives from these attacks in Iraq as well as the potential mass loss of life with the nuclear option looming. You know it's bad when the Ayatollah doesn't seem so bad anymore. It's time for Ahmadenijad to go.

Hitting Iran would be a really bad idea. If you destabilize Iran then Pakistan will fall. Pakistan has two things Iran doesn't have – terrorist and nuclear bombs. Iran doesn't have terrorist because it would be against the interests of the government. A terrorist might bite the hand that feeds them which is often the case. They may train them but they don't keep them. I haven't read about evidence of training camps either. Iran is ten years away from a nuclear bomb and that mean they are not even close. Every country that doesn't have a nuclear weapon is ten years away from developing a nuclear bomb.

Iran is a state sponsor of terror. By that definition the United States is a state sponsor of terror also. The Bush administration has been funding Sunni terrorist in Syria, Jordan, and Pakistan and Marxist terrorists in southern Iran. I can't wait for the blow back from that mess.

Laserboy, I'm so glad I found you here.

Hitting Iran would be fun! Payback for the humiliation of the EMbassy debacle, Iran's persecutions of Jews and Christians, Ahmadinejad's hosting of a Holocaust denial conference and so many other outrages. Yes, mikey, do you know what fun is?

What often bothers me about your posts, laserworm, is the seeming glee you offer up re possible embarassments for American policy, even the deaths of your fellow Americans. A line like "I can't wait for teblowback from that mess," that is pure mikey, and I think it means you really are happily slavering for the onset of such "blowback." Should you thus imagine yourself a patriot, laserlad, it is at best only in the sense that the crazoes over at MoveOn.org imagine themselves too "patriots."

Anyway, mikey, it's nice to have a chance to catch up with you at a new venue.

At least you have admitted it. You desire to strike Iran is revenge and revenge makes for a terrible foreign policy.

I don't know what I find more comical, your inability to detect sarcasm or your belief that Iran is going to swim across many oceans to enslave us.

Laser, while Cathar did say revenge, I hope you noted the sarcasm. A pre-emptive strike on Iran would be warranted, justified, recomended (at least by me), and many other things I can think of. I am hardly worried about Iran ensalving us. I am worried about the exporting of terror and WMD. World War II started in Europe and we were drug in kicking and screaming over 2 years later. WWI was similar. Why is it so hard to believe WWIII couldn't be started by these psychos nuking Israel for example in the Middle East? Do you think we wouldn't head there with our full might if that happened? Why not put out the ssmall fire before it's an inferno?
