WASHINGTON — President Bush on Monday faulted Democratic bloodlust on Capitol Hill for forcing the resignation of his longtime friend and ally, Alberto Gonzales, as attorney general.

Speaking Monday before traveling to New Mexico, Bush expressed profound disappointment that his protége is leaving his job as top law enforcement officer in the U.S. after two and a half years.

"After months of unfair treatment that has created a harmful distraction at the Justice Department, Judge Gonzales decided to resign his position and I accepted his decision," Bush said, reeling off a long list of policy Gonzales helped form as Bush's senior counsel at the White House and at the Justice Department.

I can sum this up pretty much by saying that Chuck Schumer was in favor of the resignation. Since I am almost automatically opposed to anything Chuck Schumer says, I am of course sickened by this decision that was brought about by nothing more than a witch hunt by democrats. I suppose if President Bush had simply fired all of the US Attorney's (or nearly all) as President Clinton did when he took office everything would have been fine. By firing only eight (or whatever the much smaller number was) it was the worst travesty of justice ever. YEAH RIGHT. I think Roberto Gonzales is an honest and honorable man and I hope someone wrongly accuses the democrats of singling him out because he is Hispanic (even though they didn't) so that they can get their just rewards (or lack thereof) where they deserve them, at the ballot box.
